Introduction to islamology
The new “Introduction to Islamology” certificate is a joint course created by the Dominican Institute of Oriental Studies and Domuni Universitas.
Designed as an online university, Domuni Universitas prepares its students for degrees in theology, philosophy and social sciences. With no borders, it is present on every continent.
In 2021, Domuni and IDEO signed a partnership agreement to develop new online courses, create certificates in Islamology, masters in religious sciences and other teaching and research projects.
Thanks to this partnership, IDEO researchers will teach courses via Domuni’s DoMoodle study platform, providing an introduction to Islamology and the study of Arabic.
The new certificate is credited with 30 ECTS and is made up of 5 courses of 6 ECTS each.

From pre-Islamic Arabia to the golden century of the Abbasids
From a pedagogical point of view, students will have the opportunity to study classical and medieval authors, as well as contemporary thinkers. To assist students, glossaries and biographical notes will help to situate the authors and to grasp Muslim theological terminology. Bibliographies are also provided.
